Pupil Premium Funding
The Pupil Premium is allocated to local authorities and schools with pupils on their rolls who are known to have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any time during the last six years. Each of these pupils attracts additional funding. Schools have the freedom to spend the Premium, which is in addition to the school budget, in a way they think will best support the raising of attainment for the most vulnerable pupils.
Our school mission statement and intent is:
“Shine Together in Christ.”
At St Patrick & St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School, our mission inspires everything we do. To shine together in Christ means that every child is valued as unique, created in God’s image, and supported to grow academically, spiritually, morally, and socially within a loving Catholic community.
We aim to give every child the opportunity to recognise their God‑given gifts, to develop their talents, and to thrive as confident, compassionate young people. Our curriculum, pastoral care, and wider opportunities are shaped by our Catholic values, ensuring every child feels known, loved, safe, and able to succeed.
We follow a three‑year, tiered school improvement approach, closely linked to our School Improvement Plan. This structured model supports whole‑school development, ensures consistency across both sites, and provides a clear pathway for continued excellence.
Our spending strategy is rooted in evidence‑based practice, drawing on national research—particularly the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF)—to ensure that decisions are purposeful and make the greatest possible difference to disadvantaged pupils. We prioritise high‑quality teaching, targeted support, and inclusive provision so that all pupils, especially those facing disadvantage, can achieve strong outcomes.
The aim of our strategy is to ensure that disadvantaged pupils at St Patrick & St Edmund’s continue to make good progress and meet the high expectations we hold for every learner. All funding decisions are informed by the needs of our school community and remain fully accountable to parents, governors, the Diocese, and the DfE. Providing value for money and demonstrating clear impact will remain central to our approach.
